About Us

Lauren Hill and Annie Finlayson

It all started with a community of marketers.

We launched Clwb Marketing in 2024 as a free networking community for marketing professionals across Wales. It was created to support and connect local marketers through events, webinars and a gated WhatsApp group.

What started as a small idea quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, Clwb Marketing has over 200 members and has hosted 24 in-person and online events, with a combined attendance of more than 2,500 people.

But more importantly, it became a space where marketers spoke honestly about what wasn’t working.

What We Kept Hearing

As experienced marketers, we recognised the same frustrations coming up again and again.

Many businesses hire a marketer because it feels like the natural next step as they grow, but without a clear understanding of what that role should deliver, how marketing supports the wider business, or what success should look like.

The result is familiar. A role is filled, a budget is spent, but impact is limited, all because the business was never clear on what it was trying to achieve in the first place.

At the same time, marketing suffers from a perception problem.

Marketing is one of the few functions where almost everyone believes they understand it. Opinions often outweigh expertise, decisions are constantly second-guessed, and marketers are required to justify every recommendation.

Over time, this creates environments where progress stalls and confidence erodes, not because marketers lack ability, but because they aren’t given the trust or structure to succeed.

What Marketers Told Us

Through conversations with more than 150 marketers, over 90% told us they feel undervalued, misunderstood, lost and isolated.

Instead of being recognised as specialists, they are often:

  • pulled into administrative or reactive tasks

  • asked to “make things look nice”

  • stretched across strategy, content, design, copy and reporting

  • responsible for multiple roles under the label of one

This isn’t because marketers aren’t capable. It’s because the marketing model inside many businesses isn’t set up for success.

Why We Built Marketing Collab

In 2025, we launched Marketing Collab to fix the problem from both sides.

Marketing Collab exists to help businesses grow through strategic support and guidance and to give marketers the conditions they need to do meaningful work that delivers results.

We don’t believe in:

  • hiring marketing without a plan

  • outsourcing without direction

  • or expecting one person to do the work of five

Instead, we help businesses understand:

  • What they need to do to grow

  • When they need it

  • How it supports wider business goals

  • and what success realistically looks like

Everything we build is designed to be clear, affordable and fit for purpose, not overcomplicated, over-priced or misaligned.

Who Are We?

Marketing Collab founder and CEO Lauren Hill

Lauren Hill, Founder & CEO

Lauren, a chartered marketer,  has spent over 10 years working across both marketing and sales, which means she’s seen firsthand how frustrating it can be when the two don’t align.

She often describes herself as a bit of a hybrid, having worked on both sides of the business; she understands the pressures each team faces and why everything works better (and faster) when they work together.

Lauren is a creative at heart, but every creative decision is driven by strategy.
